Birch Community Centre is a former Parish Hall, situated in the leafy Brighton Grove opposite the main gates of Platt Fields Park, Manchester, M14 5JT. You can read about the history here.
Birch Community Centre works with the local community and voluntary and statutory organisations to improve education, recreation, and leisure activities in the vicinity.
Activities and events
Birch Community Centre hosts regular activities and special events. These include wellbeing, dance, music, gatherings, and community occasions. Visit the What‘s On page to find out more. The majority of events are provided through partnerships and community hire which comes with its own project funding. Birch Community Centre does not receive any core funding for programming. Please join our mailing list to receive monthly and occasional updates.
Who we are
Birch Community Centre is a charity registered as Birch Community Association No. 1151781. It is run by a voluntary Board of Trustees and managed by Centre Manager Jonathan Hodgkinson, who, with a small team, maintains and manages the building, bookings and hires, and the marketing.
Access
- The building is wheelchair accessible with flat entrances and accessible toilet.
- There is plenty of free on-street parking.
- The Centre is located just off the busiest bus route in Europe. Buses include 42, 43, 142, 143 from Manchester, along Oxford Road, get off at the stop opposite Platt Fields Park. Buses run frequently.
- There is a purpose-built covered outdoor cycle rack for up to 10 bicycles.
